Michelle Perkett Challenge #60 – Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas, and Santa put lots of crafting supplies under the tree for you!  I had a marvellous holiday, but I am glad to get back into the swing of things.  That’s why this is such a great challenge this week, welcoming in the New Year.  So we would like you to create a card/project using an MPS image, and the theme Happy New Year.  If you need any inspiration, you can check out the gorgeous cards created by the DT’s on the MPS Challenge Blog.
                
The DT’s have all used the MPS “Fairy Bridesmaid” image, which you can purchase at Michelle’s  etsy store.  The Fairy Bridesmaid makes a great image for New Years!
I coloured her with copics, and then used the Spellbinders oval and scalloped dies.  The designer paper is from a Martha Stewart paper pad, and the border punch is also from MS.   Flowers and gems are from my ever growing stash of supplies.  One of my new favourite tools (that I got for Christmas) is the I-Top brad maker, which I used to make the coordinating brad, that is attached to the sentiment.  I added crystal stickles on the flowers and wings, and yellow stickles on her crown.

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday–CAS Last Minute Holiday Card!

Wow, just a couple more days till Christmas, and what a perfect challenge to create a last minute card for the holidays.  All you have to do is keep it clean and simple (CAS), you can use any image you want, but if you have any of the fabulous sassy designs from SSD, we would love to see them!

                 

I used one of the older SSD images called “First Snow”.  This card took no time at all.  I used a Martha Stewart border and corner punch to frame the image, then pop dotted it to a white card base.  Tied a ribbon around the top, then punched out a snowflake, and added seed beads for the center, and glued it to the middle of the ribbon.  The sentiment is from Kraftin’ Kimmie.  Then I finished it off with a pink pearl in each corner.  I used crystal stickles for the snow.

Michelle Perkett Challenge #59–Let It Snow Winter Theme!

Michelle Perkett Studio “Holiday Magic” Blog Hop!

Hello, and welcome to another fun filled and MAGICAL blog hop with Michelle Perkett Studio!

Michelle has a little game going on, and you will find the question on her blog.  To figure out the answer you must visit each blog along the hop, because some of us will have a secret letter for you!  When you get all the letters, you then put them together to figure out what the answer is.  Once you have your answer, you can email Michelle at www.michelleperkett.etsy.com/.  The first one to answer correctly will win “Missy The Mistletoe Pixie”.

For my first card/tag I used Michelle’s Buddy The Christmas Pup and Feel The Magic Christmas sentiment for the tag.

                       

Then when I got Michelle’s new image Missy, I knew I had to make another card for the hop.  So here she is.

               

It’s hard to see it in the picture, but it has some crackling.  I doubled embossed with ultra thick clear embossing powder, then stuck it in the freezer for a bit.  Once it got hard, I bent the image in different directions to get the cracked look.  After that I used Antique Linen distress ink, and sponged it over the whole image, to give it an aged effect. Then I made her into a Christmas ornament.

Before this year, I would of said, the magic of Christmas for me, is all about my family past and present.   The excitement in the children’s faces, the decorations, the food, and all the traditions that we love, and still look forward to, are what makes my family what it is today!

This year though, the Magic, will be on Christmas morning, when I will be watching my grand-son Owen open his presents, even though he is over 3000 miles away!  Thanks to Skype, I will see the wonder in his little face, when he realizes that, yes Santa Claus really did come last night!

On The 10th Day of Christmas....

This is my Tag for the 12 Sassy Days of Christmas Challenge, and  I used the newly released "Nutcracker".  On the 10th day we had to use "10 Blings".  So I added 10 crystal gems around the edge of the New Spellbinder Beaded Circle Die.  I colored her with copics, and then used a smaller round die by Spellbinders to cut her out.  The green ribbon is from my stash.  I think she turned out quite nice!

Dare To Be Sassy Thursday - Christmas Card With Un-Traditional Colors!

It's Thursday and time for another Sassy Thursday challenge at SSD.  This week is all about making a Christmas card using un-traditional colors.  You may use any image of your choice, but if you have an image from SSD, we would love to see it.  There are quite a few gorgeous new releases this month for Christmas, just pop over to Lindsay's Store to check them out, you won't be disappointed!

This is one of the new releases, and she's called "Reindeer Games".  Quite sexy and sassy!  I used some background paper, I made with ornaments and snowflake stamps.  I stamped them with silve ink, and then used silver embossing powder.  The swirls are a Flocked Deco Border, a great find at Wal-Mart!  The flowers are made with card stock, that I spent time crumbling up, so that I could separate the layers, and it makes the card stock soft and kind of fluffy looking.  You cut out 3 of the smallest circles from Spellbinder dies, and you end up with 6 layers.  I saw this technique somewhere on the internet.  The holly leaves were cut using a Cricut cartridge.  I used silver stickles on the bells, and liquid applique on the shoes and shorts.  I colored the applique on the shoes with a black copic pen.

Gift Tags - Sassy Studio Designs!

Over at SSD we are doing a 12 days of Christmas Gift Tags. I had Day 1 (use 1 border punch), and Day 5 (5 card stocks). You can check them out daily on the SSD Blog, or visit the DT blogs.

DAY ONE:

This is one of SSD's older images, and it's called "Hanging The Wreath".  I used the Layered Arch border punch, and  Snowflake punch by Martha Stewart.  I glued on seed beads for the center of the snowflakes.  The tag is a diecut from the Winter Wonderland cartridge by Cricut.

Day Five: 

This image is a new release for December, and it's called Daisy's Dreidel".  For my 5 different cardstocks I used two blues, one silver foil, one white, and I paper pieced her sweater with a designer cardstock by Martha Stewart.  The pants are also paper pieced.  The tag is the same die cut as the first tag.

Top Tip Tuesday Challenge #12 - Anything Goes!

This is an image from Michelle Perkett Studio, called "Pointsettia Fairy", she is also available from today till next friday December 10th for 20% off, at Michelle's Etsy Store.  We also have a challenge running on Michelle's Challenge Blog, and the theme is "Make Your Own Background Paper".  You must use one of Michelle's image on your card/project, and you could win one digital image of your choice.

I stamped ornaments and snowflakes on white paper with silver ink, and then heat set them with silver embossing powder.  The sentiment was also stamped right onto the white card stock, with silver ink and then embossed.  I added some white flock on her hand muff, and dress.  The card is layered with blue, and then silver foil card stock.  Then to finish is off, crystal gems in the corners of the image, blue stickles for the flower centers, and silver ribbon down the center.

Sassy Studios - New Releases For December!

I can hardly believe it's December 1st already, can you!  Of course, being the 1st of the month, it's time for some gorgeous Sassy Studio releases, and you won't be disappointed!  To add a little fun and christmas cheer, we thought each DT member would share our favourite Christmas holiday traditions.  If you leave a post on each blog, and the SSD blog, you will be entered in a draw to win 2 digital images of your choice.  Wow, someone's going to be so excited to win this prize!  Here is the blog hop order:

I couldn't decided which image to use,  I love them both, so I decided to make a card with each of them!

This one is called "Santa's List", and she certainly is sassy!  The designer papers are from BoBunny's Midnight Frost Collection.  The glitter and lace border punch are by Martha Stewart.  I glittered her outfit, belt, bows, and boots.   The "list" comes blank on the image, but I added names (my family and pet), then to give it an aged look, I used Antique Linen distress ink.  Now for the second card.

This one is called "Elf With Present", and of course, she is just as sassy!  I decided to go for non-traditional colors, using pink and turquoise instead of red and green.  I like how it turned out.  The designer papers on this one is by My Mind's Eye and it's called Frosty Pines.  The turquoise lacy circle was cut with the Martha Stewart Layered Arch corner punch.  The sentiment I did myself, using Adobe Photoshop (my first try). 
Now for a little trip down memory lane.

There are so many favorite things my kids and I did while they were growing up, it's hard to pick just a few!  We usually started in late November with baking.  We would have christmas carols playing the whole time.  We would make pies, and cookies, and squares, and cakes.  When they got older we started having a Cookie Exchange Party, with my neighbours, friends and family.  On the days when we weren't baking we were decorating the house, and then the tree.  Each year my hubby and I bought the kids a ornament, so that they would have quite a stash when they were old enough to be out on their own.  We also have an ornament that belongs to my husband, and it's 59 years old.  So it's always the last to go on the tree, and it has a special place on the tree.  I have to say though after all these years, it's god-awful looking, but we love it anyway! 
One of our best loved, and never missed Christmas specials on TV is "How The Grinch Stole Christmas".  We always watched it together, snuggled on the couch, with a mug of hot chocolate and some of our baked goods. 
On Christmas Eve, we would visit my sister, and then go to the Christmas Eve church service, and after that come home, get into out pyjamas, and have a snack.  We would leave cookies and milk for Santa Claus, (in my neck of the woods he is called Pere Noel).
Well, Christmas day was spent, like everyone else, opening presents, getting Christmas dinner going, and then relaxing and enjoying our gifts, our family and our friends!  Now, my kids are older, with families of their own, when we can't be together on christmas, we get together on skype.
